Internships and other
resume-building opportunities available
at camps nationwide
MARTINSVILLE, IN (April 3, 2007)— Students
across the country are discovering that
they can earn much more than cash as a
camp counselor — they can obtain
resume-building experience or even academic
credit.
In today’s world, a degree as well
as several internships are nearly necessary
to land that job, and while competitive
internships may just result in filling
the boss’s coffee, there are over
2,400 American Camp Association (ACA)-Accredited® camps
across the country hiring right now.
There is approximately 1.2 million camp
staff in the U.S. today, and camps are
increasingly hiring interns for academic
credit. A camp job or internship
is quite different from a traditional job
or internship as it provides students with
the opportunity to gain resume-building
skills, while working with children in
the great outdoors—what may be a
welcome environment compared to a cubicle.
I would like to offer you the opportunity
to share with your readers expert advice
through an interview with an American Camp
Association (ACA) spokesperson. As
the leading authority of the camp industry,
an ACA spokesperson can share information
on:
How to find the perfect camp job!
The benefits a camp job provides a
resume, including internship opportunities.
A sneak preview into the newest trends
in the camp industry, and how it’s
changing the face of camp.
An estimated 10 million children attend
camp each year, and ACA serves as the leading
authority of the camp industry. The
only national organization that accredits
camps, ACA works to preserve, promote,
and enhance the camp experience for children
and adults. This being our mission,
ACA wishes to assist families in obtaining
the benefits of a camp experience for their
children, including those families in your
readership.
