Why
We Are Called the American Camp Association . . . .
An association-wide survey was completed
in 2003 to catch the best thoughts of our
members about improving our image. A majority
agreed that, in order to clarify who we
are and what we do, we should slightly
alter our name from American Camping Association
to American Camp Association. The research
confirmed that, while retaining the acronym
ACA, we could make clear our position by
dropping the "ing," which
commingled us in people's perceptions with the activity of camping out and traveling
in RVs. Read more.

Got Campshots?
A photo kiosk will be displayed during
the 2007 ACA National Conference, Austin,
Texas, in the Communicamp area. Here, you will be able to drop off CDs of your
camp's historical and current photos. ACA is collecting historical and
contemporary photos from all member camps for use in marketing materials for
ACA's 100th Anniversary celebration, the 150th Anniversary of the camp
experience, Camping Magazine, and other promotional materials.
In order for any photos to be considered
for publication, the camp, camp location,
and photographer if applicable must be identified. An approximate date must be
indicated on all historical photos. For current photos, include a statement indicating
your camp has model releases on file for all identifiable subjects in the photo.
Remember to bring your camp's photos to
conference!
